Sweet Thursday - Vanessa Hua, Coyoteland

What does it mean to be a good neighbor? Whether between humans or wildlife, watching territorial battles has preoccupied author Vanessa Hua in her writing. Set in the fictional Bay Area community of El Nido, Hua’s Coyoteland follows a Chinese American family whose arrival sets off a series of scandals as a coyote rampages through the hills of Berkeley. Urgent, riveting, and deeply heartfelt, Coyoteland is an unflinching exploration of our current moment.
