Girls Who Code: Grades 3rd – 5th

Designed for: Elementary School (Grades K-5), Kids (5-11)
Come join us to learn programming and Computer Science in this exciting new weekly STEM program aimed at girls and young women, all are welcome.
No prior programming experience needed. New students welcome any time. This is an on-going weekly meeting that introduces young adults to coding in Scratch. We will be using the Girls Who Code curriculum as well as custom programming challenges throughout the school year. This class is led by a local recent computer science graduate Miss Heather.
Registration is recommended each week but Drop ins are always welcome.
Requirements:
Willingness to explore computer science and problem solving
Grades 3rd through 5th
Comfortable with computers and keyboarding (ability to type)
Bring your own laptops if you have them, workstations and library laptops will be available. Space limited to 15 participants.
Group Meets every Wednesdays 2:30pm to 3:30pm in the Technology Lab.
Self guided curriculum provided through girlswhocode.org.
Returning students will continue with new material & personal projects, new students will work through the previous material with the help of Miss Heather and returning students.
