An Evening with

Rita Moreno

TICKETS

You're invited to a very special event with the legendary performer Rita Moreno in conversation with Fernanda Gordon Fisher.

Moderated by Jan Yanehiro

Rita Moreno is one of the very few performers to win an Oscar, an Emmy, a Tony and a Grammy, thus becoming an EGOT. She is considered a trailblazer in her field having also been honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Kennedy Center Honor, Peabody Award and a SAG Lifetime Achievement Award. Born in Puerto Rico, she began her career as a dancer at age 9 and appeared on Broadway at age 14 (1945). It was another decade before she was cast in the role of Anita in the film version of West Side Story for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1961.

Joining Rita on stage is her daughter Fernanda Gordon Fisher. Fernanda has been a dancer, actress and now a jewelry designer and artist and the owner of Nandiz Jewelry Design. Fernanda was trained in dance and theater and has performed onstage throughout the years, often with her mother, and worked on several films including Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, and more recently on the film 80 for Brady, which also starred Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and Sally Field.

Jan Yanehiro helped pioneer the magazine format on television as co-host of “Evening Magazine,” a nightly program that ran for 15 years on KPIX TV-CBS in San Francisco. She has won multiple awards including an Emmy, co-authored 4 books, hosted 8 documentaries on the redress and relocation issues of Japanese Americans during World War II. She is currently the Chair of Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Legacy Board.
