LAFAYETTE LIBRARY AND LEARNING CENTER FOUNDATION
GREAT MINDS AND GREAT COMMUNITIES START HERE
who we are
The Lafayette Library and Learning Center Foundation was created to build and support the sustainability of the Lafayette Library as a vibrant regional resource for the benefit of the community, now and for generations to come. While the Foundation fulfills an extremely important role in funding critical library resources, such as additional staff hours, facility maintenance, and facility staff, it also seeks to position itself as a responsive and dynamic organization that can support changing community needs and interests.

what we do
The Lafayette Library and Learning Center Foundation raises funds for valuable library resources, offers engaging programming, and fosters community building to amplify the Lafayette Library and Learning Center's visibility, reach and impact.
Since the building's grand opening in November 2009, the Foundation has been responsible for funding over 60% of the annual Library budget, including extended Library hours, Library staff and facility maintenance. The Lafayette Library and Learning Center thrives thanks to the generous support of individual donors, community partners, corporate sponsors, grants, ticketed public programs and room rentals.
People sometimes ask, “Isn’t the Library funded through taxes?” In Lafayette, the answer is largely no. The City and Contra Costa County pay for a limited number of operating hours and basic Library services; while the Foundation covers approximately 60% of the Lafayette Library’s annual budget.
Every donation, sponsorship, room rental and program ticket truly keeps the doors of the library open.
Growing with your input
We're excited to launch our new strategic plan, shaped by your feedback, which drives the Foundation's mission to raise funds for valuable library resources, offer engaging programs, foster community building and amplify the Lafayette Library and Learning Center's visibility, reach and impact. This strategic plan is intended to be a guide for the Foundation's work, with a focus on goals to accomplish for the first year.
