About the Event

A narrative rich with bold feats of engineering and civic imagination, Portal introduces the colorful figures who fought to preserve the character and soul of San Francisco’s Ferry Building – from legendary columnist Herb Caen and poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti to Senator Dianne Feinstein. SF Urban Design Critic John King traces the rise, fall and rebirth of this iconic building, with lessons on both the history of San Francisco and the future of cities across America.
